HumanTech – the new normal in technology
Previously, people had to learn the language of machines – read manuals, learn commands, and adapt to the limitations of user interfaces. In the HumanTech era, the roles are reversed. Machines take care of routines so that humans can focus on what is essential: control, creativity, and decision-making. This is the new normal in technology!
Thanks to generative AI, voice control and augmented reality, devices and applications now understand speech and gestures. This transformation has opened up a new global market where the winners are those whose technology feels most natural, secure, and human. Technical quality alone is rarely a competitive advantage anymore—it is a given.
Createch Finland is building a future where technology adapts to the pace of humans. We want to ensure that Finland is at the forefront of this revolution.
A new balance of work between humans and machines
Until now, we’ve often had to adapt to the terms of our devices. In the HumanTech philosophy, we don’t serve technology; we harness it to fit our own needs. This is more than just a matter of convenience; it is the foundation of productivity and safety.
Seamless cooperation is built on a clear division of tasks, combining the computing power of machines with human wisdom in the best possible way.
- Humans
- decide what is important and ethically correct
- understand the subtle nuances of culture, emotions, and situations
- utilize tacit knowledge and skills that are not visible in data
- understand the genuine feelings and needs of the end customer
- Machine
- monitors and calculates tirelessly, even when humans are resting
- sees and hears with sensors what human senses cannot detect
- repeats the same task consistently, even a million times
- analyzes large amounts of data into useful information for humans
The user interface of the future is invisible
The user interface of the future is unnoticeable and requires no new learning to use. Instead of menus and commands, interaction is based on language, gestures, and context. The system responds to the user’s situation and provides relevant information at just the right moment. When technology works reliably and predictably in the background, stress on the brain is reduced. This frees up energy for thinking and creativity.
In the new division of labor, humans transition from users to guides. Machines filter huge amounts of data and handle routines, leaving humans free and in charge of making meaningful decisions. Artificial intelligence highlights abnormalities and suggests solutions, but the direction and values are always determined by humans.
The HumanTech model is built on mutual cooperation, with humans steering and technology supporting. This requires a new kind of contextual awareness from machines. They must be able to sense when humans are busy, stressed, or learning, and react accordingly. In addition, technological processes must be transparent. When artificial intelligence clearly justifies its recommendations, it is no longer a “black box” but a reliable partner. At their best, humans and machines interact like two colleagues.
What does HumanTech mean in practice?
For industry and technology companies
The competitive advantage has shifted from hardware and software to experience. Everyone has access to the same cloud computing and artificial intelligence models, so differentiation comes down to how well solutions integrate into people’s everyday lives and work. Human-centered design reduces cognitive load, improves occupational safety and speeds up product deployment.
For creative professionals and humanists
Content and user experience are the new hard core of technology. The expertise of game designers, screenwriters, psychologists and designers is now also needed outside the realm of art and entertainment. Industry has a need for a human-centered approach, storytelling, and visuals to make devices and apps user-driven. These skills are in high demand in the new market.
For decision-makers and investors
Finland’s new growth engine will be built through co-creation. We have world-class engineering expertise and world-class creativity, but they do not build on each other sufficiently. By breaking down the silos between sectors, we can create innovations that solve global problems – from aging to climate change – in a human-centered way. Regulation and financing must shift from a technology-specific to a mission-based approach in order for innovation to truly flourish.
Createch Matchmaker brings talent together
Finland’s true potential is unlocked when world-class engineering expertise and cutting-edge creative insight are brought together. Createch Finland’s mission is to bring together technology, human sciences and creative industries. When the technical expertise of engineers meets the skill of humanists and artists in interpreting human needs, cultural differences become a shared competitive advantage.
We have developed the Createch Matchmaker model as a tool for this purpose. We seek partners for companies in our network to work together to solve identified challenges, kick-starting the collaboration with a small, fast-paced co-development project. Through these agile experiments, we test the effectiveness of the collaboration in practice and ensure that the solution responds to a genuine HumanTech challenge. At the same time, we lay the foundation for lasting and effective collaboration.
